Outdoor Trips

Trip Sign Ups

All trip sign ups are conducted at the Outdoor Center in room 108 of the Activity Center.
Deadlines for sign ups will be on the Tuesday before the trip at 5:30pm.
Only full time students are eligible to participate in Outdoor Recreation trips.
Students may pay for trips by cash, credit, or by check. (The Outdoor Center can only issue refunds to those paying by credit card.)

Pre-Trip Meetings

All trips will have a pre-trip meeting on the Tuesday prior to the trip at 5:30pm at the Outdoor Center. The pre-trip meeting is conducted to inform participants of necessary logistics, equipment, and activities associated with the trip, as well as allow participants to: meet trip leaders, meet other participants, and complete mandatory paperwork. All participants must fill out an Informed Consent Form and a Medical Information Form. If participants are unable to attend the pre-trip meeting, participants must set up other arrangements with the trip leader prior to the start of the trip.

*Outdoor Recreation reserves the right to cancel activities without sufficient enrollment or due to adverse weather conditions. No refunds for “no shows.”

Aguirre Springs Evening Hike – $10

Hueco Tanks Bouldering Tour – $18

Hueco Tanks is one of the premiere climbing areas in the country. All level of abilities are encouraged to join: instructors will help you navigate the challenge of bouldering problems through basic climbing techniques.

Fall Break Canyonlands Tour – $65

Chaco Canyon. Brice Canyon. Zion National Park.
Spend your Fall Break with other NMSU Students touring some of the most scenic and unique canyons on Earth, during the best season in the Southwest. Camping will range from state park to backcountry, and some intermediate hiking is involved.

Ski Apache Trip – $45

The Final Trip of the Semester!
Shake off Finals Stress by taking a day trip with NMSU Outdoor Rec and hit the slopes in beautiful Ski Apache. Ski Apache is Southern New Mexico’s premier ski and snowboard resort, offering dozens of trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Lift Ticket and Equipment are not provide, and the trip is dependent on snowfall.
