Swim Instruction

NMSU Rec Sports offers swim instruction in various learning settings for participants of all ages and abilities. Our certified swim instructors provide customized instruction to best fit the needs of swimmers in a friendly and safe environment. Come swim with us!

Swim School

A community-based instructional program primarily developed for teaching swimming to children beginning at the age of 3.

A community-based instructional program primarily developed for teaching swimming to children beginning at the age of 3.

Children in the below levels will learn the following:

Preschool:

Submerging face
Blowing bubbles
Head bobs
Kicking supported
Floating on front and back supported
Supported front crawl

Beginner:

Kick on back and front unsupported
Front crawl unsupported
Freestyle unsupported for 20 yards
Backstroke unsupported for 20 yards
Front/back float unsupported

Intermediate:

Treading water
Diving
Effective rhythmic side breathing
Breaststroke.
Streamlines

Advanced:

Front/back flip turns
Open turns
Diving from blocks
Butterfly
Technique/stroke enhancement for freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.

Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays. Classes will not be held on May 27, July 4, and July 25.

Registration Dates:

Aggie Fit Members: April 1, 2013 at 7am.

Non Aggie Fit Members: April 2, 2013 at 6am.

Registration will be conducted in room 103 of the Activity Center.
